Dwell Houses
Dwell Houses are meeting a need in a student-housing market that is in high demand for bedrooms, but offering an alternative quaint living option to big-box development surrounding the University.
Dwell Houses originated in 2019 with the acquisition of single-family lots in the Rose Hill neighborhood. By 2021, the portfolio expanded to five lots, multiplying tenant capacity and making an early impact in the student housing market. In 2024, an underutilized property with an existing four-plex was acquired and reimagined into four separate lots, creating space for four additional tandem homes. What began as a small infill effort has grown into a recognized student living community, now offering 60 bedrooms designed to build friendships, complement the neighborhood, and reflect a commitment to thoughtful design and livable spaces.
The design narrative for this project was shaped by inspiration drawn from classic Cannery Villages—historic coastal communities known for their vibrant character, timeless architecture, and strong sense of camaraderie.
The name Dwell Houses is rooted in Psalm 91:1 (ESV): “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” More than student housing, Dwell Houses is a place where college students are looking to find identity and belonging. It serves as an opportunity for stewardship and formation, creating friendships that go beyond the typical landlord–tenant relationship.
